Sarel Akar

ACHROMATOPSIA

Sarel’s works often have a narrative element with a deeper meaning that triggers viewer based imagination and interpretation.

Sarel’s signature technique is charcoal on canvas. She mixes wide ranges of materials such as oil, acrylics, powder colors, or pastels.

In 2016, Sarel elevated this hobby to creating her first black and white series “Achromatopsia”. Her first exhibition in Dubai Design District’s “Art Hub” (2019) was deemed successful and led the creator to be more invested in her art career.

Achromatopsia is a condition characterized by a partial or total absence of color vision. People with complete color blindness cannot perceive any colors; they see only black, white and shades of gray. Have a look at these color washed artworks and you will get very close to understanding the world of achromatopsia.
